KOTA: A 20-year-old UP native preparing for NEET at a coaching institute in Kota died by suicide in his PG room on Monday night. This is the sixth suicide by a coaching student in Kota this year.
The deceased student, Mohammad Urooj from Kannauj, had been studying for the medical entrance examination in the city for the last one-and-a-half years, and was living in Vigyan Nagar, said Satish Chaudhary, circle officer of the area police station.
No suicide note was found in his room and the reason behind his extreme step would be known only after investigation, he said, adding that the autopsy would be conducted after arrival of his parents.
Urooj did not respond to his parents’ phone calls on Tuesday morning, prompting them to contact some of his friends and the PG’s guard, who informed police.
The ceiling fan in the PG accommodation was not equipped with an anti-suicide device, as mandated by the guidelines issued by district administration, Chaudhary said.
