A 40-year-old Indian doctor Oumair Aejaz was arrested in US after being charged with numerous sex crimes, including recording thousands of nude images and videos of children and women over the past six years, according to media reports. He is being held on a $2 million bond.
The doctor was arrested on August 8 after allegations surfaced that he had installed hidden cameras in various locations, including bathrooms, hospital settings, and changing rooms.
Police discovered over 13,000 videos on a single hard drive and seized 15 external devices during their investigation.
Aejaz, who has no prior criminal history, has been charged with one count of child sexually abusive activity, four counts of capturing images of unclothed persons, and five counts of using a computer to commit a crime.
The case came to light when Aejaz’s wife provided law enforcement with disturbing materials, leading to a series of search warrants executed at his home in Rochester Hills, Michigan.
Authorities fear there may be many more victims, and the investigation could take months to complete. Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard compared the scale of Aejaz’s offenses to those of Larry Nasser, the disgraced sports doctor. Authorities suspect that Aejaz may have also uploaded some of the illegal videos to cloud storage.
