NEW DELHI: The last budget session of the 17th Lok Sabha will be held from January 31 to February 9, according to parliamentary affairs minister Pralhad Joshi.
The Interim Budget Session 2024 will be significant as it will be the final session before the upcoming general elections. During this session, President Droupadi Murmu will address Parliament, and on February 1, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the interim Budget.
It is important to note that the new government, which will be formed after the Lok Sabha polls, will later present the complete budget.
Since the term of the 17th Lok Sabha ends on June 16, this session will be the last opportunity for the current Parliament to convene before the general elections are announced.
In the previous general elections held in 2019, the Lok Sabha polls were announced on March 10, and the voting was conducted in seven phases from April 11 to May 19.
