Sanju Samson will return as Rajasthan Royals captain after receiving clearance from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru to resume wicketkeeping duties.
The India international had fractured his right index finger, requiring surgery. As a result, he was not permitted to keep wickets for Rajasthan Royals’ first three matches, leading the franchise to appoint Riyan Parag as stand-in skipper.
Sanju travelled to Bengaluru from Guwahati a couple of days ago for an assessment. Following the evaluation, the Centre of Excellence informed both the cricketer and the franchise that he is fit to take up wicketkeeping duties from the next match.
Rajasthan Royals is set to face Punjab Kings in Mullanpur later this week.
