Iran‘s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, expressed his condolences and solidarity with the family of Yahya Sinwar, the Hamas leader who was killed in an Israeli military operation.
Khamenei emphasised that despite Sinwar’s death, Hamas would persevere and continue its activities.
“Hamas is alive and will remain alive,” he said. “His loss is undoubtedly painful for the Axis of Resistance, but this front did not cease advancing with the martyrdom of prominent figures,” Khamenei added.
Khamenei congratulated Sinwar’s family, comrades, and those dedicated to the path of jihad on his martyrdom. He reassured them of Iran’s unwavering support for the Palestinian fighters and mujahideen.
Khamenei emphasized that the resistance front has not faltered in the past, even after the loss of notable figures such as Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, Fathi Shaqaqi, Rantisi, and Ismail Haniyeh. He expressed confidence that Sinwar’s martyrdom would not hinder their progress either.
Reflecting on Sinwar’s life, Khamenei praised his dedication to the Palestinian cause, stating, “For someone like Yahya #alSinwar who had dedicated his life to the battle against the usurping, cruel enemy, anything less than martyrdom would have been an unworthy fate.”
He called upon Muslim nations and youth in the region to recognize Sinwar’s sacrifice and join the ranks of his martyred comrades.
The Israeli military confirmed Sinwar’s death, which occurred during a surprise firefight in southern Gaza‘s Rafah. Sinwar was the mastermind behind the deadly cross-border attacks on October 7. Following his death, Iran and its allies have pledged to continue their resistance against Israel.
