FC Goa will look to complete a double over Hyderabad FC when it hosts the Nizams in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 match at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here on Wednesday.

A win with a clean sheet in this game will mark the first time FC Goa would have had four consecutive shutouts in ISL, furthering its longest winning run against Hyderabad FC to four games.

The Gaurs are third in the table with 25 points from 13 matches, courtesy of seven victories and four draws, and will climb to second if it can secure full points.

“We have to be ambitious. The target is to win the shield. If that doesn’t happen, then at least finish in the top two,” Goa’s head coach Manolo Marquez said. “We want to get points from this away match.”

Hyderabad FC, on the other hand, is looking to end a dismal streak of three consecutive away losses without scoring. It is second from the bottom with eight points from 14 matches.

A win for the Nizams would be a giant-killing move, giving them their first win since November, when it beat Kerala Blasters 2-1 on the road.

“There are some key players in FC Goa, whom we have assessed. We will try to stop them. The focus is to get points from this away match,” Shameel Chembakath, Hyderabad FC’s interim head coach said.

Goa has played Hyderabad 11 times so far; the Gaurs have won six games and the Nizams, thrice. The remaining encounters have been drawn.
