Reiterating India’s strong efforts to host the 2036 Summer Olympics in India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in his address to the nation on the occasion of Independence Day that the country is preparing for its bid to bring the biggest sporting extravaganza to India.
“It is our dream that the 2036 Olympics is hosted on the Indian soil. We are preparing for it, moving forward,” said the Prime Minister.

It is also likely that India will bid to host the Youth Olympics in 2030.

France President, Emmanuel Macron, has aso backed India’s interest in hosting the Games. Speaking on JioCinema after the conclusion of the Paris Olympics, Macron said that India has the “capacity” to host an event as big as the Olympic Games.

“First of all I am a strong believer in your country and the future of your country, and what you can build and your capacity to organise such events,” Macron said on JioCinema.
The entire Indian contingent, which participated at the Paris Olympics was present at the Red Fort to celebrate the Independence Day.
India won six medals at the Paris Olympics: 1 silver and 5 bronze.
Neeraj Chopra won a silver medal in men’s javelin throw, while Manu Bhaker created history by becoming the first Indian post-independence to win two medals in the same edition of the Games. She won two bronze medals in 10m air pistol individual as well as mixed team event, where she partnered Sarabjot Singh.
Shooter Swapnil Kusale became the first Indian shooter to win a medal in the 50m rifle 3 position event with his bronze, while wrestler Aman Sehrawat became the youngest Indian to medal at the Olympics with his bronze in the men’s 57kg freestyle event.
The men’s hockey team, meanwhile, marked its second successive podium finish at the Games with their bronze medal effort to add to the country’s glorious Olympic history in the sport.
