The sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD continues to dominate the box office, and for fans eager for more, director Nag Ashwin has unveiled some exciting details about the upcoming sequel!

Nag Ashwin Teases Epic Face-Off in Kalki 2898 AD Part 2
In a recent interview with Variety, Ashwin discussed his plans for the second installment. He confirmed filming has already begun, stating, “We shot about 25 or 30 days, but there’s a lot of action still left. It’s almost like a whole new production that’s going to start. Every loose end or thread that we left hanging has to be wrapped up.”
Ashwin went on to tease a central conflict in the sequel, highlighting a “face-off between these three” – Yaskin, Karna, and Ashwatthama. He elaborated, “Obviously, the most important thing will be the face-off between these three, which will be between Yaskin who can now wield the Gandiva, which is thought to be the most powerful weapon, versus Karna and Ashwatthama, who are the most fearsome warriors.”
Building a Complex World
Reflecting on the challenges of creating Kalki’s unique world, Ashwin admitted, “To be honest, for all of us, we didn’t really know what we were trying to achieve when we started off.” He explained how the team embraced authenticity in design and action sequences, ultimately leading to a far grander scale than initially envisioned.
“We really started out with the idea that we should try to do everything in India,” Ashwin said. “But finally, we ended up using two or three foreign companies as well.” This collaboration highlights the film’s ambitious scope, blending Indian mythology with science fiction elements.
Kalki 2898 AD boasts an impressive cast, featuring Prabhas as the bounty hunter Bhairava, Deepika Padukone as the pregnant test subject SUM-80, and Amitabh Bachchan portraying the mythical Ashwatthama. Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan is seen as Yaskin.
