The Kapoor family, including actors Ranbir Kapoor, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, and Neetu Kapoor, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday to invite him to the Raj Kapoor Film Festival. The festival will be held to celebrate the legendary filmmaker’s birth centenary.
December 14, 2024, marks the 100th birth anniversary of Raj Kapoor, a multifaceted legend in Bollywood known for his work as an actor, editor, director, and producer. He is celebrated for his iconic films such as Aag, Awara, Barsaat, Shree 420, and Bobby, which have left an indelible mark on the history of Indian cinema.
According to Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Instagram post, Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited the Kapoor family to New Delhi ahead of Raj Kapoor’s 100th birth anniversary to commemorate his extraordinary legacy. This special meeting allowed the family to honor the cinematic icon’s contributions and plan for the upcoming celebrations.
She posted a series of pictures of the family with the prime minister and captioned, “We are deeply humbled and honored to have been invited by the Honourable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, to commemorate the extraordinary life and legacy of our grandfather, the legendary Raj Kapoor. The Kapoor family, including Rima Jain, Karisma Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Saif Ali Khan, Aadar Jain, Aarman Jain, and Anissa Malhotra, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Tuesday to invite him to the Raj Kapoor Film Festival.
The family expressed their hope that Modi would attend the festival, which will be held from December 13 to 15. Spanning 101 cinemas across 34 cities, the event, organized by PVR INOX Limited and the Film Heritage Foundation, will be one of the most extensive retrospectives dedicated to Raj Kapoor’s illustrious filmography.
