BENGALURU: Karnataka, on Tuesday, at the World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting in Davos signed MoUs with as many as seven companies that have promised Rs 22,000 crore investment in the state.
India-based Data management company Web Werks has promised to invest Rs 20,000 crore in the state.
In a release issued by the Karnataka government, the state has announced that the other six companies collectively generated Rs 2,000 crore investment.
Web Werks founder and CEO Nikhil Rathi has conveyed to the Karnataka government that his company has planned to set up a 100 MW data centre in Bengaluru.
Further, the company has also proposed to establish a cutting-edge connectivity hub, featuring a state-of-art hyper-scale data centre in Bengaluru.
Industries minister M B Patil has also signed MoUs with Microsoft, Hitachi and four other companies.
Microsoft has signed the MoU in favour of working towards digital skilling and governance initiatives which are targetting the under-served youth in India, with a focus on young girls/women, job seekers, individuals with disabilities, nano entrepreneurs and those in regions with low workforce participation, aspirational districts, remote and tribal areas.
The Microsoft initiative will provide 70 hours of virtual instructor-led training on digital productivity, employability, entrepreneurship and communication skills through its non-profit partner AISECT.
The company will also be providing access to the Microsoft training platform to its participants with 150 additional hours of skilling content.
The partnership will also see Microsoft, AISECT and possibly the state skill development corporation with Microsoft providing monetary support and content.
Hitachi will have a much closer association with the state government.
According to the government, Hitachi will work in the rural sector, healthcare, education and panchayat e-governance to create “opportunities for the people of Karnataka”.
The company also has plans to start with M-Star telemedicine deployment through Hitachi MGRM Net.
Meanwhile, Patil also engaged in discussions with Sony, HP, Nestle, Honeywell, Lulu Group, Inovx Group, Takeda Pharma, Coinbase, Tilman Global, BL Agro and others.
Honeywell has supposedly expressed its intent to collaborate with the state government for utilising a variety of sensors and an IOT stack for citizens services including traffic management and monitoring government operational services like waste management, among others.
The managing director for Lulu Group, which is a leading Mall enterprise on the global scale, M A Yusuff Ali on Tuesday announced that it will venture into food processing in Vijayapura district, the home district of industries minister M B Patil who is leading the Karnataka Delegation in Davos at the World Economic Forum.
The Lulu Group is presently procuring as much as 200 tons of fruits and vegetables from Karnataka and plans to enhance its export capacity by focusing on the north Karnataka region.
