After bringing in Rs. 29.62 crores over the weekend, all eyes were now on how does Kesari Chapter 2 sustain itself over the weekdays. Friday was a partial holiday which had seen Rs. 7.84 crores coming in, which means in fair value the collections were in Rs. 5.50 crores range. Hence, Monday collections needed to be as close as possible to this number and while Rs. 4 crores was a bare minimum requirement, Rs. 5 crores would have been even better.
The film found itself within this range as Rs. 4.50 crores came in and from this point on further stability is on the cards. On Tuesdays, many multiplex chains have decided to screen all movies at Rs. 99/= which means better footfalls are on the cards. As a result, at least Rs. 4 crores mark is expected to be crossed today as well and the hope is that the positive word of mouth that’s generated from the audiences which step in today will help the film tomorrow and day after as well.
The Akshay Kumar starrer now stands at Rs. 34.12 crores and the first week collections should be over Rs. 45 crores mark. Especially at multiplexes, where the target audience for the film resides, there is another open week ahead till Raid 2 arrives on May 1, which means the film would eventually have a good lifetime.
