Kesari Chapter 2 trailer launch: Akshay Kumar THUNDERS when asked about ‘F**k you’ dialogue: “He said it in retaliation to ‘You are still a slave’. Was that not a big gaali for you?”; also reveals, “My father was born opposite Jallianwala Bagh”

The teaser of Kesari Chapter 2 ended on a solid note featuring Akshay Kumar saying ‘F**k you’ that too to a British judge. It’s very rare for the superstar to swear on screen. At the trailer launch, a journalist asked Akshay Kumar about his aspect during the question-and-answer session.

Akshay Kumar said, “Yes I used the word ‘f**k you’. But my character said it in retaliation to ‘You are still a slave’. Was that not a big gaali for you? I think usse badi gaali aur kuch nahin ho sakti.”

He added, “I would have been happy if you had concentrated on them using the word ‘slave’ for Indians rather than my character saying ‘f**k you’. In such a situation, agar unhone goli bhi maar di hoti, toh bhi chhota rehta.”

Another reporter remarked that Akshay Kumar was born in Amritsar, the same city where the Jallianwala Bagh massacre occurred. Akshay clarified, “I guess you read on Google that I was born in Amritsar. That’s not true. I was born in Purani Dilli. Nevertheless, this film is still personal. My father was born just opposite Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar. There’s a lane, Aloo Wala Katra, next to Jallianwala Bagh. That’s where my father was born. My grandfather had seen the horrors of the massacre (that took place on April 13, 1919).”

The actor added, “Hence, this is a very personal as well as an important film. As Karan Johar said, we made this film in anger. The kind of stories I had heard from my father, who heard it from his father, shook me. Karan Singh Tyagi then further explained the incident to me. Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat wrote the book ‘The Case That Shook The Empire’, from which we have adapted Kesari Chapter 2. They are present here and I’d like to thank them. They threw light on things which we were not aware of. We only knew that the massacre took place and General Dyer stopped as his ammunition got over. We didn’t know about the deeper aspects and the case that C Sankaran Nair fought.”

Kesari Chapter 2 – The Untold Story Of Jallianwala Bagh releases in cinemas on April 18.
