The Kerala Government Medical Officers’ Association (KGMOA) will organise a sit-in protest in front of the Director of Health Services’ office in Thiruvananthapuram on March 18 in protest against the Director’s alleged vindictive actions against doctors.
In a statement here, the KGMOA said an estimated 500 unfilled doctor vacancies had exacerbated the work pressure on doctors. It said the Director was piling more work on doctors without lifting a finger to fill the vacancies.
The KGMOA said the Director had initiated disciplinary action against doctors for not making themselves available for VIP duty. It said the Director’s action contravened the Chief Secretary’s directions. The Director was yet to execute the routine transfers due in April, it said.
The KGMOA threatened to boycott work indefinitely if the Health department did not meet their demands.
