“One unit of electricity saved is equivalent to two units produced,” said P. Rudrappaiah, Managing Director, Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL) while addressing a gathering of students from the Government High School, Hegganahalli, during the National Energy Conservation Day programme held at KREDL’s headquarters on Tuesday.
The event marked the culmination of KREDL’s Energy Conservation Week activities which is a part of India’s broader mission to combat climate change and environmental degradation. The activities in Karnataka aimed at raising awareness about reducing energy wastage, promoting efficient energy use, and encouraging sustainable practices.
In his address, Mr. Rudrappaiah urged students to embrace energy-saving habits, such as switching off lights and fans when not in use, opting for energy-efficient appliances with BEE 5-star ratings, and using public transport whenever possible.
