The RM Nagar police in Bengaluru have arrested a 24-year-old construction labourer for killing a six-years-old girl after sexually assaulting her near the house where they stayed in Hoysala Nagar on Monday (January 14, 2025).
The accused, Abhishek Kumar, hails from Bihar and was living in an under-construction house where he worked, situated close to the girl’s house. The victim parents are also migrant labourers. While father worked as security guard, mother is a domestic help.
The accused picked up the girl by lured her with candies, took her to isolated place, and sexually assaulted her. She was playing outside the house when the accused took her .
Parents came to know the girl was missing and went in search of her, and found the accused with the victim, said the police. The girl was by then dead.
Angry parents and neighbours who gathered by then thrashed the accused and handed him over to the police. The police have booked the accused under provisions of the POCSO Act and subjected him to medical examination for further investigation.
