A full-grown leopard was found dead lying on a wooden plank, at Rudra Park on the outskirts of Srisailam town in Nandyal district on Wednesday.
According to sources, the devotees, on their way to Srisailam temple, noticed the carcass of a leopard in the park abutting the thick forest cover. At first glance, they thought the animal to be asleep, however, soon realised that it was lifeless.
The forest officials rushed to the spot and conducted an investigation. As per preliminary information, the claws were found missing on the carcass, suggesting the angle of poaching. A case was registered and further investigation is on.
