LUCKNOW: It is the vibes, and not the view, that matters when it comes to watching a cricket match live in the stadium.
What else could explain the excitement of cricket fans who made all the noise in the Ekana Stadium on Sunday during the clash between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Lucknow SuperGiants (LSG) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).
Having found the seats at the topmost corner, located at a height of over 70 metres from the ground at Ekana stadium, these spectators were seen making the most of the ‘insect view’ of the player’s seat in the houseful encounter.
The home team’s second match at the home ground drew cricket lovers not only from all corners of the city but different districts of the state too.
Bollywood songs, especially from the movie ‘Animal’, made LSG fans roar from every corner of the stadium.
TOI spoke to spectators in the upper seats who admitted that nothing was visible clearly from the top seats but the fun of being in the stadium was unmissable.
“We could hardly recognize players from such great height, but the electrifying atmosphere of the stadium made us enjoy every bit,” said Avdhesh Kumar, a businessman, who came from Ara, Bihar.
Another spectator, Aviral Anand from Ghaziabad, said, “Be it the firecrackers and cheers or a full view of the stadium, I loved it all. It was a lifetime experience to watch a match with over 40,000 people together.”
Busy making video calls to their family members, spectators tried to show the stadium online to their loved ones.
“I am thrilled to be here and don’t have any guilt of not getting a good lower stand seat as two giant screens is enough not to miss any shot,” said Swarna Dixit.
