The decision of akharas to retreat to ‘chhaavni‘ (camps) without proceeding for mauni amavasya amrit snan Wednesday was mainly credited to the newly inducted naga sadhus, who were just a dip away from completing their initiation into the ascetic cult, reports Rajeev Mani. Nearly 12,000 of these sadhus will now have to wait till the next amrit snan, Basant Panchami, which falls on Feb 3, to take a dip.
