The Madanayakanahalli Police have arrested a 30-year-old private firm employee for killing the owner of his house over a trivial row on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Pradeep Shivalingaiah, 41, the owner of a four-storeyed house, who had given a portion of the house for the accused Chetan, 30.

According to the police the duo used to drink together and fight frequently over trivial rows. On Tuesday night, one of the tenants noticed that the TV in Chetan’s house was playing and went to check, but it was locked from inside. The next day, the nieghbour noticed the TV was still on playing with maximum volume and went to check and found that Pradeep was lying on the floor motionless and Chetan missing. He called Pradeep’s family who in turn alerted the police. The police rushed to the spot and found Pradeep dead with multiple injuries on his head and burn marks all over his body.

The police later tracked down Chetan who was on the run and upon questioning, he told the police that Pradeep used to come to his house everyday to drink and used to pee in the house. Chetan had warned him many times and even complained to his family over the phone, but in vain. On Tuesday night, when Pradeep peed again in an inebriated state, an enraged Chetan caught him by the hair banged his head against the wall and even burnt him with cigarettes all over his body. He even kept the TV on with full volume to avoid Pradeep’s screams being heard by neighbours while he was torturing him. After few minutes Chetan realized Pradeep is dead and escaped after locking the house, police said.
