The bodies of two new born girls were found in the Kummandan Medu bed dam opposite to the Cuddalore Collectorate complex on Monday.
According to police, the bodies, which were wrapped in a piece of cloth, was found by the local people. The police noticed a tag tied to the babies hands, indicating that they were born at the Cuddalore Government General Hospital.
The babies were delivered by Jayapriya, wife of Prabhakaran in the Cuddalore GH on Saturday. The babies died on Sunday within a span of few hours. After completing all legal formalities, the hospital authorities handed over the babies to Prabhakaran. However, he abandoned them in the bed dam, a police officer said.
A case has been registered and further investigations are on.
