In a gruesome crime, a man murdered his daughter-in-law after she tried to escape a rape attempt by him in Julumgera village of Raichur district.
The crime occurred on Saturday and a case has been registered in the Idapanur Police Station.
The accused, Ramalingayya, made an attempt to rape the victim at their residence at 9 a.m. on Saturday, the complaint said. And, when she resisted and tried to escape from him, he hit her on the forehead with a shovel and killed her on the spot.
The victim’s husband was away in the field grazing sheep. He is now absconding, the police said.
In the complaint, it is stated that the accused made several attempts to rape his daughter-in-law earlier too. It is said that he warned her that he would kill her if she resisted his attempts to rape her.
Every time, she resisted his attempts and informed her parents about the situation. Her parents, in turn, warned the accused against repeating his heinous acts. They, however, did not lodge a police complaint keeping in mind the stigma associated with rape.
