A local court in Guntur on Monday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for killing his elder sister in a property dispute. The convict, Shaik Nagul Meeravali, son of Shaik Moula Saheb, hailing from Kothuru under Tulluru mandal, attacked his sister Shaik Lal Bee and her daughter with a knife in 2017, Guntur SP S. Satish Kumar said in a press release on Monday.
The incident, which stemmed from disagreements over their father’s property, resulted in the death of Lal Bee; her daughter survived. A case was registered at Tulluru police station, based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s father Shaik Moula Saheb.
Guntur Second District Court Judge Y. Nagaraju awarded life imprisonment and a fine of ₹1,000 under Section 302 IPC, along with 10 years of imprisonment and another ₹1,000 fine under Section 307 IPC. The SP lauded Public Prosecutor Shaik Barkat Ali, and police officials for their efforts in securing the conviction.
