However, for Satya, Bajpayee took on the responsibility himself, believing he knew best what Bhiku Mhatre’s wardrobe should look like.

Bajpayee meticulously chose each piece of clothing for his character. “I was of the opinion that I knew exactly what kind of clothes Bhiku Mhatre would wear. So I used to come to Hill Road quite often, looking for the kind of fabric and prints that would reflect him,” he shared. He selected shirts, denim, and vests that embodied the essence of Bhiku Mhatre, ensuring authenticity and a personal touch to the character’s appearance.
A passion for styling
Beyond Satya, Bajpayee’s passion for character styling has been a consistent aspect of his career. He expressed his meticulous approach to character wardrobe, saying, “Now I have my costume people, the designers, and they are always on tenterhooks with me. When I am working on my character, I am also thinking about the clothes he will wear.” Bajpayee emphasized that styling isn’t just about the design but also the fabric and fitting, noting that “every character will have a different fitting.”

The actor recounted the challenges of sourcing the right fabrics and clothes, often visiting small shops and buying in bulk. Despite the difficulty, Bajpayee’s dedication to his craft and attention to detail in costume selection have contributed significantly to the authenticity of his characters.
