“A lot of people, including some BJP supporters, feel that India should have continued the military action against Pakistan. They seem to be against the ceasefire,” Karnataka’s PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi said in Belagavi on May 13.
“Majority of the people feel military action against Pakistan should have continued, as family of the tourists killed in the Pahalgam terror attack are yet to get justice,” he told reporters after meeting senior officers to review various development programmes, in the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi.
“The tourists who died in Pahallam have not got justice. The war between India and Pakistan has now stopped due to the ceasefire. Everyone expected a full-scale war. But it did not happen. It has been stopped as desired by the Union Government. The challenge ahead is how to build the country and strengthen our security infrastructure in the future,” he said.
“Some BJP leaders had posted social media messages comparing the action taken by Indira Gandhi against the Pakistan army in 1971. But then, the action has been stopped now, and nothing can be done about it,” he said.
He said he had no clear idea about who mediated the ceasefire between the neighbours. “It is an international issue. and we have no details, like whether it was US President Donald Trump who mediated or some other power. These details will emerge one day. Let us wait and watch,” he said.
