In a heart-stopping incident on Sunday afternoon, a speeding car on Mumbai’s newly inaugurated Trans Harbour Link bridge flipped over several times after abruptly changing lanes. Despite the dramatic crash, all occupants survived the crash unharmed.
A video that captured the incident on the dash cam of another moving car has surfaced on social media. As seen in the video, the car, a Maruti Suzuki Ignis, swerved unexpectedly on the country’s longest sea-bridge. The driver, seemingly unable to maintain control at high speed, collided forcefully with the protective railing, causing the vehicle to overturn multiple times before finally coming to a stop.

The vehicle, reportedly en route to Chirle (a village in Uran taluka of Raigad district), was carrying two women and children during the accident. Fortunately, all passengers are confirmed to be safe.
According to the police, the woman driving the car lost control, causing it to collide with the divider. The impact led to the vehicle flipping over and skidding along the road for some distance before eventually turning back to an upright position.
The bridge, known as Atal Setu, was inaugurated just nine days ago. The Mumbai Trans Harbour Link has a mandated speed limit of 100 km/h for cars on both sides. As the overturned vehicle tumbled, other vehicles on the bridge slowed down or changed lanes to avert a potential collision.
The 21.8-kilometre-long Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, a recently opened and stylish addition to the city’s infrastructure, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 12 and opened to traffic the following day.
