Mask mandate in Kerala district after Nipah death | India News

KOZHIKODE: A day after it was confirmed that a 24-year-old student in Kerala‘s Malappuram had succumbed to Nipah infection on Sept 9, authorities have declared containment zones in five civic wards in the locality and mandated wearing face masks. Schools, colleges, tuition centres, madrassas, anganwadis, and cinema theatres have been shut while shops have been allowed to function from 10am to 7pm.People have also been asked to avoid social gatherings.
The state health department has ramped up contact tracing and identified 175 contacts – of the victim.
