MP CM requests Union home minister Amit Shah to order CBI probe

NEW DELHI: Madhya Pradesh chief minister Mohan Yadav on Saturday requested home minister Amit Shah for a CBI probe into the matter of the Indore couple, who went missing in Meghalaya’s Shillong, last month. Raja Rajuvanshi (29) was later found dead, but his wife, Sonam Rajbanshi (27), is still missing. Taking to X, Yadav said that the state “stands with the family of Sonam Raghuvanshi in this hour of crisis.” Yadav added that he discussed the matter with the CM of Meghalaya. The senior officials of MP are in constant touch with the officials of Meghalaya, he said in the post. “I have requested Union home minister Amit Shah to order a CBI inquiry in this case. Every possible effort is being made for the safe return of Sonam Raghuvanshi,” he further wrote in the post. Drones deployed to trace missing womanThe Meghalaya government has deployed drones to aid an extensive multi-agency search operation for Sonam, who went missing under mysterious circumstances during a honeymoon trip in Sohra. Raja Rajuvanshi’s death is now the subject of a murder investigation.Authorities said the search teams, comprising personnel from the national disaster response force (NDRF), state disaster response force (sdrf), special response team (srt), fire and emergency services, special operations team, special investigation team, and local volunteers, carried out the operation on Friday amid harsh weather conditions and difficult terrain.Operation halted due to fogThe operation, which was conducted throughout the day despite rain and low visibility, was called off by evening due to worsening fog.
