NEW DELHI: A day after experiencing the warmest day of the year so far, some areas in the city saw traces of rain or drizzle on Sunday, which coupled with strong winds brought much-needed respite.
The maximum temperature on Sunday dropped by over three degrees Celsius. At the city’s base station, Safdarjung, the maximum temperature was 29.8 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal, compared to 34.1 degrees Celsius a day earlier.
The minimum temperature was 16.9 degrees Celsius, the season’s normal, compared to 16.2 degrees Celsius a day earlier.Lodhi Road and Ridge saw trace rain.
According to the weather department, temperatures will begin to rise on Monday.
The maximum and minimum temperature on Monday will hover around 32 and 16 degrees Celsius, respectively. By March 28, the maximum temperature may spike to 36 degrees Celsius. There may be respite again on March 29.
Meanwhile, the air quality improved to the ‘moderate’ category on Sunday. The AQI, on a scale of 0 to 500, was 194, against 232 a day earlier.
