‘Most commanding officers this R-Day are women’

All-women tri-service contingent with women Agniveers from the three services Members of the contingent are from the Indian Army, the corps of military police, and include women personnel from the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force. Captain Sandhya Mahla from the Corps of Military Police will lead the all-women tri-service contingent at the parade, along with Flight Lieutenant Shrishti Verma, Captain Sharanya Rao and Sub Lieutenant Aashu Yadav.
‘MOST COMMANDING OFFICERS THIS REPUBLIC DAY ARE WOMEN’
At the R-Day parade, the Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launcher system and Swathi weapon-locating radar will be showcased by the Regiment of Artillery.These equipment will be represented by women artillery officers. Lieutenant Deepti Rana and Lieutenant Priyanka Sevda will lead the Swathi weapon locating radar and Pinaka rocket system display.Women were commissioned into the Regiment of Artillery as officers in two batches in April and September last year. As of today, there are a total of 10 women officers in the regiment.
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and Border Security Force (BSF) will also be represented by women contingents this year. Women pilots will fly some of the military aircrafts of the fly-past which will have 56 military aircrafts. As per reports, 15 women pilots will be leading the flypast and six will be flying the fighter jets.
IAF’s 144-member contingent to be led by four women officers
Squadron Leader Rashmi Thakur will be the parade commander with Squadron Leaders Sumita Yadav and Pratiti Alhuwalia, and Flight Lieutenant Kirti Rohil as supernumerary officers.
Delhi Police all-women contingent participates for the first time
IPS Shweta K Sugathan, who led a male contingent last year at the R-Day parade, will lead 147 women constables and head constables at the parade. The Additional DCP North is the second woman IPS officer to lead the parade after Kiran Bedi. An all-women brass band of Delhi Police will participate in the parade and will be led by 57-year-old sub-inspector Kiran Sethi.
