CHENNAI: Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) will resume full operations between Velachery and Chennai Beach as it has completed critical infrastructural work.
Services between Chennai Beach and Chindadripet were suspended on August 7, 2023 to facilitate construction of a 4.3km fourth line between Chennai Beach and Egmore. The work, which was originally slated for completion in seven months in April 2024, was delayed.
Now as work is over, full services in the Velachery – Chennai Beach stretch will resume on Oct 29, restoring this vital link for commuters who depend on the MRTS for daily travel between the southern suburbs and the city’s central districts.
