NASHIK: Passengers were seen stranded at various bus terminuses across Nashik district from 4 am today as over 4,800 employees of MSRTC in Nashik district joined a sit-in agitation outside their respective depots. This action restricted the movement of any buses from their depots.
By 7 am, the services of about 250 out of the 650 buses from the depots in Nashik district were affected as the drivers and conductors did not resume their journeys for the day.Citizens willing to travel to Pune, Borivali, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Dhule, Jalgaon, Nandurbar, and other destinations were stranded at bus terminuses like New CBS, the Mela Stand, Mahamarg bus stand, and others, as no buses initiated their journeys today.
The buses have been locked up at the depots, including Nashik, Malegaon, Mammad, Surgana, and others, and the crew members have joined the agitation.
“None of the buses from any of the depots have started their journeys today. The buses were allowed to complete their round trips to ensure neither the passengers nor the crew members were affected. So all the buses that are in transit and out of the depots will return to their depots, and thereafter the buses will not move out as the crew members are joining the sit-in agitation,” said Swapnil Gadkari, officer bearer of ST Kamgar Samyukta Kruti Samit and divisional secretary of the Maharashtra ST Kamgar Sanghatana.
The sit-in agitation is part of the agitation undertaken only after the talks with the state govt failed.
“Only three buses from Kalwan depot have resumed their services this morning. None of the other buses have started their journey so far,” confirmed the depot manager, Nashik, Pratap Rajput.
