MUMBAI: The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) on Thursday announced that all transfers, including those of drivers, conductors and other officials, including total 87,000 employees at 251 depots, in the state bus corporation, will now be done through a computerised, online and transparent process.
“This will ensure zero interference, no favouritism and reduce instances of employees using clout or bribing superiors to get favourable transfers,” said a senior MSRTC official. On the other hand, those really needing tranfer due to illness, to stay close to family etc can now get a transfer as such applications remain pending in files for years, he said, adding that transfers will be fair and on merit.
The new initiative is due to efforts by MSRTC managing director Madhav Kusekar. The transfers will be from one depot to another, or one division to another, and employees can give three choices for new postings in an online form.
A few months back, the state transport department also followed a similar online and transparent system to transfer RTO inspector and assistant RTO inspectors across Maharashtra. Said a government official : “It is the government’s objective to encourage this online process which will put an end to corruption in transfers and postings of officials.”
