NEW DELHI: The Maha Mumbai Expo commenced with a ceremony at the MMRDA Grounds, BKC, marking the beginning of the Mumbai Festival 2024. The festival was inaugurated by the minister of tourism, rural development & panchayat raj, Girish Mahajan, and Anand Mahindra, chairperson of the Mumbai Festival Advisory Committee. It unfolded against the backdrop of cultural performances and rhythmic beats.The expo is a showcase of Maharashtra’s rich cultural tapestry.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was graced by dignitaries, including minister of school education and Marathi language, Deepak Kesarkar.
Running from January 20 to 28, at the MMRDA Grounds, Bandra Kurla Complex, the Maha Mumbai Expo invites visitors to explore Maharashtra’s art, heritage, and timeless traditions. People can visit the expo between 4pm and 10pm on weekdays, from 1pm to 10pm on weekends. The Kreeda Experience Centre offers a nostalgic journey into traditional games, echoing the cultural roots of Maharashtra.
Mahajan emphasised, “The Maha Mumbai Expo is an essential facet of the Mumbai Festival, showcasing Maharashtra’s rich culture and diversity. Immerse yourself in this extraordinary journey, embracing the essence of our vibrant state.”
Jayshree Bhoj, secretary, tourism, government of Maharashtra, added, “The Expo presents the multifaceted beauty of our city, seamlessly blending tradition and innovation. It’s a unique opportunity to capture the dynamic spirit and artistic heritage resonating with the global audience.”
The Expo features over 20 food stalls at ‘Taste of Mumbai’ by GTC, offering Mumbai’s iconic street food. It has delicacies from renowned stalls such as Bademiya, Sichuan Spice by Whitelight, and more. The Game Zone has a collection of virtual reality games, bumper cars, and traditional games like life-size Chaupar. Attendees can also participate in Raffle Excitement and win prizes like e-bikes, holiday packages, mobile phones, and laptops.
