TRICHY/MADURAI: The Narendra Modi government made India stronger through a raft of schemes that benefited marginalised sections, women, farmers and the youth, BJP national president J P Nadda said while campaigning for NDA candidates in central and south Tamil Nadu on Sunday.
He bore down on the opposition, calling INDIA bloc “a conglomeration of corrupt parties whose leaders are either on bail or in jail”.”DMK stands for dynasty, swindle and katta panchayat (kangaroo courts), while Congress is full of corruption. All parties in the opposition alliance are family parties embroiled in corruption.”
Nadda said extreme poverty in India declined to less than 1% due to Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, which benefited 80 crore people. “We took care of Dalits, tribals and people who were left behind, and by doing that, we made India stronger,” he said.
Nadda went on a km-long roadshow in Trichy after Madras high court, in a special sitting, granted permission to BJP on the condition that the party pick an alternative route. The Trichy administration rejected the BJP’s original plan to hold the roadshow through the congested Big Bazaar Street.
At Ariyalu, where he campaigned for P Karthiyayini, BJP’s candidate for the Chidambaram (reserved) seat, Nadda said Tamil Nadu was special to PM Modi. “PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, a direct benefit transfer programme, and Jal Jeevan Mission benefited 30 lakh farmers and 80 lakh people, respectively.” tnn
