NEW DELHI: BJP president J P Nadda on Tuesday congratulated the party’s Chandigarh unit for retaining the mayor’s post that it has held for eight years and said INDIA bloc lost its first electoral battle to BJP which showed that “neither their arithmetic is working nor their chemistry“.
BJP’s Manoj Sonkar defeated INDIA bloc’s Kuldeep Dhalor by four votes to win the contentious Chandigarh mayor elections amid high drama as opposition parties dubbed BJP win a “fraud”.
Reacting on the development, Nadda wrote on X, “Under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership, Union Territories have witnessed record development.” BJP’s IT department head Amit Malviya said, “The arrogance of INDI Alliance has been reduced to dust in the Chandigarh mayoral poll… agree with Arvind Kejriwal that this is what 2024 will look like.”
