Asian Games silver medallist Kishore Jena has joined the lineup for the Neeraj Chopra Classic, the organisers announced on Thursday.
The Neeraj Chopra Classic will be held at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on May 24. Tokyo 2020 gold medallist and reigning men’s javelin throw world champion Neeraj will headline the meet.
Jena, who finished second behind Neeraj at the Hangzhou Asian Games with a personal best of 87.54m, joins Sachin Yadav, Rohit Yadav and Sahil Silwal in the list of Indian participants.
The event will also feature two-time World Champion Anderson Peters, Olympic Champion Thomas Roehler, Olympic silver medallist Julius Yego, world leader Curtis Thompson, Japan’s Genki Dean, Brazil’s Luiz Mauricio da Silva and Rumesh Pathirage of Sri Lanka.
The event was originally scheduled to be held in Panchkula on May 24 before being shifted because of an issue with the stadium floodlights.
It will be a gold-level event and offer the Indians a huge opportunity to qualify for the World Championships.
