NEW DELHI: Union home minister Amit Shah on Tuesday asserted that China couldn’t encroach a “single inch” of land under the Narendra Modi. He also drew comparisons between decisions made by the Modi and Nehru governments.
Amit Shah highlighted PM Modi’s firm stand during the Doklam standoff, resulted in China’s retreat after 45 days. He said, “China couldn’t encroach single inch of land under Modi government.”
In his first election rally address in Lakhimpur, Assam, Shah discussed historical events, particularly the 1962 Chinese aggression, attributing it to Nehru’s policies towards the state.
He added, “People of Assam will never forget how Jawaharlal Nehru said ‘bye-bye’ to Assam during the Chinese aggression. Under PM Modi’s govt, China couldn’t encroach even one inch of our land…Assam and Arunachal Pradesh can never forget 1962… “
Amit Shah mentioned the BJP’s success in halting infiltration from Bangladesh and criticized the Congress for neglecting Assam’s heritage. Shah expressed confidence in Assam’s development under BJP rule and mentioned PM Modi’s decision to withdraw Afspa from 80% of the state.
He also compared the financial allocations by Congress and BJP governments. Shah’s rally marks the start of the BJP’s election campaign in Assam, outlining the party’s vision for the state’s progress.
Shah added, “I want to tell you today that in the coming days, Assam will become a developed state like other states in the country…For years the Congress party had left the Ram Mandir issue hanging. It was during PM Modi’s time that the judgement came, ‘bhoomi poojan’ happened and finally on January 22, the ‘pranpratishtha’ took place… “
