NEW DELHI: Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aditya Thackeray took a dig at Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) telling them to “never take away a World Cup final from Mumbai” in a post on X.
Thackeray’s remarks came a day after fans turned up in large numbers during the victory parade of Indian Cricket team in Mumbai on Thursday. India won the ICC T20I World Cup in Barbados on June 29 defeating South Africa.
“Yesterday’s celebration in Mumbai is also a strong message to the BCCI… Never take away a World Cup final from Mumbai!,” said the Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA.

He had earlier criticised BCCI for shifting 2023 ODI World Cup final to Narendra Modi Stadium in Gujarat where Indian cricket team faced a defeat by Australia.
Meanwhile, Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium hosted many significant events including the India’s first T20 World Cup victory in 2007 under MS Dhoni, the 2011 Cricket World Cup win on home soil, and Sachin Tendulkar’s emotional farewell in 2013.
