New DCC office to be inaugurated on April 12

The new building of the Kozhikode District Congress Committee (DCC), named after former Chief Minister K. Karunakaran, will be inaugurated on April 12 by MP and AICC General Secretary (Organisational Affairs) K.C. Venugopal, according to a communication from the DCC.

Meanwhile, KPCC president K. Sudhakaran will inaugurate the auditorium named after former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan will unveil the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at the entrance, while former Leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennithala will unveil the statue of Jawaharlal Nehru.

AICC Working Committee member and MP Shashi Tharoor will inaugurate the K.G. Adiyodi Research Centre and the DCC website. AICC general secretary Deepa Dasmunshi will deliver the keynote address. National General Secretary of the Indian Union Muslim League P.K. Kunhalikutty will be the guest of honour.

The statues of K. Karunakaran and Oommen Chandy will be unveiled by former KPCC presidents Mullappally Ramachandran and K. Muraleedharan, respectively. Several State-level and national-level leaders of the Indian National Congress are expected to take part in the event.

As part of the celebrations, the DCC is observing the period from April 6 to May 6 as Thrivarnotsavam, with a variety of programmes scheduled across different venues in the city, according to a communication from the DCC.
