JAMSHEDPUR: Six youths were killed and two seriously injured in Jharkhand‘s Jamshedpur when the car in which they were heading to a picnic early Monday after a New Year night party collided with a divider, hit an electric pole and eventually crashed into a tree.
So severe was the impact that the cops had to cut through the mangled remains of the car to pull out the trapped occupants after thecrash in the Steel City’s Bistupur area.
According to police sources, preliminary indications indicated the accident was caused by over-speeding. Bistupur police station-in-charge Anjani Kumar said the exact cause will be known after the investigation is complete. Asked if the youths were inebriated, Kumar said: “We will know once we receive the post-mortem reports.”
