He also discussed how the late actor Irrfan Khan influenced his cinematic approach.
Nikkhil, reflecting on his time working with Sudhir Mishra and Karan Johar, shared that he feels more connected to Sudhir’s style. However, he expressed a desire to recreate the emotional depth found in Karan’s films like ‘Salaam-e-Ishq’ or ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho.’ Advani aims to blend Sudhir’s realism with Karan’s dramatic flair in his own movies, such as ‘D Day’ and ‘Mumbai Diaries.’
After collaborating on ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho,’ Nikkhil Advani and Karan Johar had a falling out. Advani disclosed in the same interview that they stopped communicating with each other following the release of the film.Nikkhil Advani credited Irrfan Khan for influencing his perspective on filmmaking. Recalling their collaboration on ‘D Day,’ Advani mentioned feeling like he had nothing to lose, which empowered him to not compromise on his vision. Irrfan’s advice to focus on enjoying the process rather than stressing over details resonated with Advani and became a guiding principle in his career.

Nikkhil’s next film, ‘Vedaa,’ features John Abraham and Sharvari in prominent roles. Scheduled for a theatrical release on July 12, the movie sees a reunion between John and Nikkhil following their work together on projects like ‘Salaam-e-Ishq’ and ‘Batla House.’ The filmmakers recently revealed the first look of the movie.
