Nikon has announced its latest full-frame/FX-format Nikon Z6III mirrorless camera for which the Nikon Z mount has been adopted. The Z6III inherits the same performance and operability as the Nikon Z9, the flagship model of the Nikon Z series, and the Nikon Z8. It also offers new features and has an effective pixel count of 24.5 megapixels. As the world’s first full-frame mirrorless camera to be equipped with a partially-stacked CMOS sensor and the EXPEED 7 image-processing engine used by the Z9 and Z8, the Z6III is better able to capture moving subjects and provides the video recording functions needed to satisfy video production needs.
The Z6III also includes an electronic viewfinder (EVF) that is brighter, has a higher resolution, and has a wider colour gamut than flagship models. Further, the Z6III works in tandem with Nikon’s new cloud service, Nikon Imaging Cloud, which offers new Imaging Recipes. It also allows for the automatic transferring of images captured with the Z6III to various third-party cloud storage services.

Nikon Z6III full-frame mirrorless camera: Key highlights

The Z6III features a partially-stacked CMOS sensor and an EXPEED 7 engine for ultra-fast, high-resolution shooting. The new high-speed CMOS sensor enables internal 12-bit 6K RAW recording for improved detail and flexibility in post-production, ideal for professional videographers.

The Z6III boasts the brightest mirrorless camera EVF ever at 4,000 cd/m2. With a high 5760k-dot resolution and DCI-P3 colour gamut, it offers a lifelike view for accurate framing and playback. Z6III delivers pro-level performance with faster autofocus, low-light shooting down to -10 EV, and a rugged build for diverse environments. It inherits the Z9/Z8’s intuitive controls and user-friendly features for effortless creative capture.
The camera also helps with creative freedom with “Flexible Color” Picture Control in Nikon’s editing software and camera. Users can create custom styles, share presets and even import creator “Imaging Recipes” for a personalised and effortless shooting experience.
The Z6III also boasts Nikon’s strongest image stabilisation (8 stops), sharpens focus in portraits, and creates high-res (96MP) photos. It offers in-body stabilisation for video, lossless zoom, and customisable shutter sounds for a versatile shooting experience.
