NEW DELHI: The brutal knife attack on Saif Ali Khan at his Bandra home last week raised serious questions about safety and security in Maharashtra’s capital. The actor suffered critical injuries and was rushed in the early hours of January 16 to Mumbai’s Lilavati hospital.
The doctors performed a major surgery and was later discharged after a few days. However, some unanswered questions around the attack has turned this incident into a mystery.
Why is there is no CCTV footage of Saif?
One of the major puzzle in the Saif Ali Khan case is that although there’s a CCTV footage of the suspect entering and leaving the building after attack, there is no such video of Saif leaving his building for hospital. Additionally, there is no such video of the actor at the Lilavati hospital.
Who took Saif to hospital?
There is also confusion regarding who took Saif Ali Khan to the Lilavati hospital after the life-threatening attack. According to initial reports, Saif’s son Ibrahim Ali Khan along with another person took him to the hospital in an auto as no one was available to drive his car.
Later, it was reported that the actor’s younger son Taimur was present with him along with the other man while another version states that there was woman present with the actor and his son Taimur.
Who is the real attacker?
The Mumbai Police reeling under pressure of high-profile case announced that they arrested the suspect a couple of days later from Mumbai. However, they later said that the arrested person is not related to the incident.
Later, the Railway police arrested a person from a train in Chhattisgarh’s Durg claiming him to be the attacker. However, he was also let go after it turned out that he had nothing to do with the case.
The Mumbai Police then arrested Shariful Fakir from Thane and claimed him to be one who attacked Saif. The police also declared that he is Bangladeshi national who entered India illegally and has been doing odd jobs in Mumbai and Thane for a while. The police also said to recover a piece of broken knife used in the attack from him.
However, many people believe that the arrested individual looks different from the attacker captured in CCTV footage.
How did Saif recover so fast?
Some also raised suspicions about the attack after the actor walked out of the hospital following the surgery who looked visibly fit. They questioned how does the actor is walking effortlessly following a major surgery.
Maharashtra Ports minister Nitesh Rane on Thursday questioned the attack on actor Saif Ali Khan, expressing disbelief over his discharge from the hospital and suggesting that the incident might have been staged.

“When he came out of the hospital, I doubted whether he had been stabbed or if he was acting,” Rane said.
“He was dancing while walking. Whenever any Khan, like Shahrukh Khan or Saif Ali Khan, gets hurt, everyone starts talking about it. But when a Hindu actor like Sushant Singh Rajput is tortured, no one comes forward to say anything,” Rane added.
Earlier, Shiv Sena functionary Sanjay Nirupam questioned Saif’s recovery. “The video (Saif’s) raises questions. It (knife) was probably trapped inside. The operation continued for 6 hours continuously. All this happened on January 16… now it’s January 21. So fit as soon as you got out of the hospital? In just 5 days? Wonderful,” said Nirupam.
“I know that Saif Ali Khan is physically very fit, goes to the gym regularly, but is his immune system so strong that he can recover in four days?” he added.
How did the attacker flee so easily?
Some are also questioning how the attacker managed to escape so easily given he was outnumbered and was locked in a room. Where was the building’s security during the attack and why was the premises not searched if he hid in the garden for two hours before leaving as per the reports.
