NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh on Wednesday said his party was “born from agitation” and it was time to give the “BJP a fitting reply”.
The AAP leader had been in jail for the past 6 months in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case. The SC had granted him bail on Tuesday.
After coming out of jail, Singh met Arvind Kejriwal‘s wife Sunita before making his way to the AAP HQ where he received a rousing welcome.Shortly after being released on bail, the AAP MP told the crowd gathered outside Tihar jail: “Jashn manane ka waqt nahi aya hai, sangharsh ka waqt hai (It’s not time to celebrate, it’s time to fight). Our party’s senior leaders Arvind Kejriwal, Satyendar Jain and Manish Sisodia are being kept behind bars. I have confidence that the locks of the jail will break and they will come out.”
His emergence from custody not only signals a personal relief but also serves as a significant boost for the AAP amidst ongoing legal challenges faced by its top leadership, including Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.
“From the party office, I want to tell the dictator of the nation that this is AAP, we were born from an agitation. You want to destroy our party? You have sent Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain to jail. What was their crime? Their crime was that they wanted to give better education to 2 crore people of Delhi,” Singh told party workers at the AAP HQ.
“They want to break AAP… Tanashahi macha rakhi hai desh ke andhar … I was in jail for six months, and every worker, and leader of AAP is standing with Arvind Kejriwal … I want to say that AAP was born from agitation. We are not afraid of anything,” Singh told party workers.
“Arvind Kejriwal will not resign at all and will work for the two crore people of Delhi. It is said that how will one write a letter … I have come back after spending six months in jail. It is written in the jail manual that any person can write unlimited letters while in jail … If someone wants to write a government letter, then permission is required from the court,” said Singh.
“There is widespread tyranny in country, all of us are with CM Kejriwal … Time has come to give BJP a reply, they’ve inducted all corrupt from across country,” said Singh at the party headquarters.
