BHUBANESWAR: As Odisha gears up for grand inauguration of Shree Mandira Parikrama Prakalpa (heritage corridor project) on Wednesday, which is considered as the Naveen Patnaik government’s biggest ever infrastructure development around the 12th century Jagannath temple in Puri, the chief minister on Monday requested countless Jagannath devotees across the globe to observe the auspicious day with joy and devotion.
In an open letter and video message, Naveen described Lord Jagannath as the supreme identity of every Odia.
“Lord Jagannath is the nerve centre of Odia identity and deeply associated with our history, tradition and culture. The deity is the symbol of religious harmony. A leaf cannot move without his will. By Lord Jagannath’s will, the Shree Mandira Parikrama Prakalpa is going to be dedicated to devotees,” Naveen said.
Quoting Puri king Dibyasingha Deb, Naveen said this kind of massive transformation around the Jagannath temple was not done in the last 700 years.
“It is a day of celebration and devotion for the entire Odia community. So, I request, let us all celebrate this day, this festival, by surrendering to the Lord for his blessings. Let’s express our devotion by lighting a lamp, blowing conches, beating gongs, worshipping, singing sacred hymns and chanting Jai Jagannath. Let’s celebrate this day with devotion, joy and enthusiasm in every house of Odisha,” Naveen said, adding that “I request all Jagannath devotees in the country and abroad to celebrate the opening of the heritage corridor project with devotion.”
Naveen said the main objective of the heritage corridor project is to provide a divine experience to devotees along with the protection of the shrine.
“This is a glorious moment in the history of Odisha that we have been blessed to witness the divine transformation. I would like to express my deep gratitude to all those who have sacrificed and donated their land for the Parikrama project. I also express my sincere thanks to all the construction workers, artisans and sculptors engaged in this service of the Lord. This has become a reality due to the will of Lord Jagannath,” Naveen said.
