Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was seen laughing and talking during the national anthem at a sports event in Patna. Opposition RJD president Lalu Prasad and his son Tejashwi Yadav accused the chief minister of disrespecting the national anthem.

Tejashwi Yadav wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “At least please do not insult the national anthem, Hon’ble Chief Minister. You insult youth, students, women and elderly people every day. Sometimes they clap on Mahatma Gandhi’s martyrdom day and mock his martyrdom, and sometimes they clap on the national anthem!”

However, Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi backed the Bihar chief minister, saying, “People who insult the country including Bihar are questioning the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar. By the way, I would like to tell people that Lalu ji and company had made the name of our “Bihar” state a curse but it is Nitish Kumar ji who has given respect to Bihar on the international stage.”

The Sepak Takraw World Cup 2025 is being held at the Pataliputra Sports Complex.
