Orry, however, responded with surprise and a touch of humour on Instagram, questioning who Suchitra was and what exactly “Orry culture” meant. He wrote, “Who is this woman!?!? And what even is Orry culture!!??? What is going on!!?? And why does she keep talking about me!!!?? I am so confusion rn. I have never met her. And why is something someone one’s friend saying making headlines?!!!!?? These are the questions that haunt me and keep me awake at night!!!”
In her statement, Krishnamoorthi emphasized the importance of individuality and excellence in an artist’s work, condemning the flaunting of labels that merely signify a price tag or status symbol. She cited an example of a former personal trainer who, influenced by the #Orry culture, took a loan to afford designer bags to match the lifestyle of celebrity clients.
Quoting the trainer, Suchitra highlighted the perilous nature of the #Orry culture, stating, “I don’t want him to get into this #Orry culture – it’s dangerous. He has to do something on his own. He has to realize that just posting photos with celebrities doesn’t make him one.”
