Sharing his favorites of 2024, Obama wrote, “Here are a few movies I’d recommend checking out this year (sic).” Highlighting the former President’s fine taste in cinema, the post read – “Barack Obama’s favourite movies of 2024–All We Imagine as Light, Conclave, The Piano Lesson, The Promised Land, The Seed of the Sacred Fig, Dune: Part Two, Anora, Didi, A Complete Unknown.”

Payal Kapadia’s groundbreaking film with Kani Kasruti, Divya Prabha, Chhaya Kadam, and Hridhu Haroon in main roles garnered immense appreciation from all around the world It became the first Indian film to bag the prestigious Grand Prix at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. And that is just the tip of the iceberg, it won the Jury Grand Prize at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards, Best International Feature at the Gotham Awards, and Best International Film at the New York Film Critics Circle.
Moreover, the list of winnings doesn’t seem to end here, as the movie has got its name in the race for Critics’ Choice Award for Best Foreign Language Film, Golden Globe 2025: Best Non-English Language Motion Picture, and Best Director (Motion Picture).
