The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction at the speed and scale of the growing bilateral partnership in all areas and the convergence of views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.
“Met US National Security Advisor @JakeSullivan46. India is committed to further strengthen the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership for global good,” PM Modi said in a tweet.
“NSA Sullivan briefed Prime Minister on the progress in various areas of bilateral cooperation, particularly under the Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET) such as semiconductors, Artificial Intelligence, telecom, defence, critical minerals, space, among others,” according to the statement released by PMO.
“Prime Minister recalled his recent positive interaction with President Biden at the G7 Summit. PM reaffirmed commitment to continue to strengthen Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership for the global good and take it to greater heights in the new term,” statement read.
Earlier today, Sullivan met external affairs minister S Jaishankar and national security advisor Ajit Doval and held discussions on iCET. This is notably US and India’s second meeting of the initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET).
It is the first visit of a senior US official after the PM Modi-led NDA government came to power for the third term. Sullivan also met his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval at the national capital.
People familiar with the matter told news agency ANI that Sullivan, along with deputy secretary of state Kurt Campbell, and other top officials, will also meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Sullivan was scheduled to visit India earlier in February but the meeting was rescheduled for June 17-18.
