CHENNAI: Social media was abuzz with tweets on Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s visit to Trichy on Tuesday. By evening, there were more than one million tweets with the hashtag #vanakkammodi (welcome Modi) on social media platform X to welcome Modi to Tamil Nadu.
BJP national organisation general secretary B L Santhosh appreciated the people in the state and the BJP state unit by tweeting that “well done Tamilnadu makkal & BJPTamilnadu for trending and welcoming PM Narendra Modi” to TN.
Modi was in Trichy to participate in the convocation of Bharathidasan University and inaugurate the new international terminal of Trichy airport. He launched some projects, as well.
In the past, Modi’s visits to Tamil Nadu were marred by controversies as the DMK, when it was the principal opposition party, had organised black flag and black balloon protests against the PM with the hashtag #gobackmodi. Chief minister and DMK president M K Stalin was present at the events Modi participated in Trichy on Tuesday.
